Students who attend the primary schools in the CCGPS area are encouraged to participate in a variety of literacy based activities such as:
- debating
- public speaking
- writing competitions
- specialised programs (eg. MultiLit, Accelerated Literacy, Focus on Reading)
- school libraries
- community involvement
- middle school programs where year 6 students are invited to their feeder high school to participate in hands-on lessons
- support and extension literacy groups
- Peer tutor reading groups
- participating in programs such as National Simultaneous Storytime and Premier's Reading Challenge
