Cessnock High School was established on its present site in 1937. It is the traditional high school of the City of Cessnock.
Students from five public schools attend Cessnock High School - Cessnock, Cessnock East, Abermain, Kearsley and Kitchener. The school caters for the learning needs of 600 students in appropriately sized classes on a large site.
The school motto is 'What e're you do, do well' which reflects the strong work ethic of our traditional mining community. Cessnock High School is an innovative learning community.
We care about children, their families and their learning. Positive Behaviour for Learning underpins student welfare with our expectations of Respect, Responsibility and Ready to Learn.
Cessnock High School has embraced 'The College' which broadens and strengthens the senior school curriculum, and increases its relevance for students.
Cessnock High School has an exciting teacher mentoring program to enhance quality teaching and learning in the junior school.
The school shows great leadership in Literacy and Numeracy, the Creative and Performing Arts, Agriculture and Aboriginal Education.
